Title: Refinish Prep Technician
Reports To: Shop Foreman & Painter
Location: Tacoma, WA
Employment: Full-time (Overtime and Weekends when required)
Compensation:
- $17.50-$30.00, rate dependent upon experience

Summary Description: This entry level position will put prospective candidates in the position of contributing to the refinishing of the best collectible and classic cars in the world. This position will aid our painter in preparation of vehicles for full refinishing to the highest standards, including all parts and pieces of a vehicle. We do not perform collision work at this time, and most of the work performed is complete paint jobs with the highest quality expectations.
Primary Position Requirements:
- Cleaning of paint shop facilities
- Stripping, blasting, and preparation of substrates for refinishing
- Masking, mixing of materials, filler work, welding
- Block sanding to our specifications
- Organization of parts and parts refinish request forms.
- Ordering of materials with attention to costs and accurate allocation of costs
- Working directly with other restoration experts to help them achieve completion of shop projects in accordance with shop timelines and quality expectations
- Painting of small parts
- Wet sanding and polishing of finished panels to perfection

- Highly self-motivated
- Ability to work in a team environment and accomplish goals of the business to satisfy customer goals and needs in a professional and timely manner
- Highly receptive and agreeable to specific instructions related to the Griot’s Motors process of refinishing which greatly differs from the collision industry
- Focus on learning, development of skills, and growth over time.
Experience
- Minimum completion of collision/restoration refinishing program or 2 years experience in facet of the collision/refinish industry
