This 1969 Macon MR7 Formula Ford represents one of the earliest and most influential eras of Formula Ford competition. Built in February 1969 by Macon Race Cars in Kent, England, chassis 101 is believed to have been ordered new by legendary U.S. importer Fred Opert, whose efforts helped introduce many of Britain’s most successful formula cars to American racers.

Finished in red over a black single-seat cockpit, this Macon is powered by a 1.6-liter Ford Kent inline-four built by Ivey Engines in 2008. The dry-sump engine is said to have approximately nine hours of use and is paired with a Hewland Engineering Mk 8 four-speed transaxle. Dyno sheets and engine specifications can be provided, and a comparable engine build today would represent a significant investment.

The current owner acquired the car from a Washington collector more than a decade ago, and it has seen only limited use during occasional testing days. In preparation for the sale, the fluids were changed and a video of the engine running can be provided.

Eligible for vintage racing events and historic Formula Ford competition, the Macon MR7 offers a compelling opportunity to acquire an early British Formula Ford with documented provenance and a fresh, low-hour drivetrain. The safety equipment is out of date and should be updated before any on-track use.
