Lancia Stratos HF Stradale – Restored by Griot’s Motors

Lancia Stratos HF Stradale – Restored by Griot’s Motors

We’re proud to offer this remarkable Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, a true motorsports icon and a road-going example that’s been treated to a partial restoration by our team at Griot’s Motors.

Originally imported from Japan by Symbolic International, this car was acquired by its current owner in 2015. It was stored in a climate-controlled facility until it was entrusted to us for careful, period-correct restoration work that included extensive mechanical and cosmetic refresh totaling over $200,000 in documented work.

  • Lancia Stratos HF Stradale – Restored by Griot’s Motors
  • 2.4L Ferrari Dino V6 – matching numbers
  • Lancia Classiche Certified
  • Restored by Griot’s Motors
  • Engine resealed, carbs serviced, suspension rebuilt
  • Correct interior restored with sourced materials
  • Complete underside restoration and repaint
  • Signed rear decklid by WRC champions Miki Biasion and Sandro Munari
  • Over $200,000 invested in restoration and preservation

Our efforts began with a complete underside restoration, including stripping, refinishing, and repainting of the entire engine bay on the underside of the chassis. The suspension was fully disassembled, inspected, replated, and rebuilt, and the original matching-numbers engine was removed, thoroughly resealed, and reinstalled. The carburetors were cleaned, and all fluids were replaced. Numerous original components were re-zinced or refinished to factory standards, preserving the car’s authenticity throughout.

Inside, the entire cabin was gutted and restored back to its correct factory specification. The dash was rewrapped in proper mouse fur, and we sourced and installed the correct interior color combination, including new carpets and seat upholstery. The result is one of the most accurate and complete Stratos interiors we’ve seen in a U.S. based example.

The car still wears an older exterior repaint, and patina suggests it was completed years ago. All body tags are intact, and the engine is matching to the chassis. Confirming originality, the vehicle comes with a Lancia Classiche.

Adding to its provenance, the rear decklid bears the signatures of rally legends Miki Biasion (two-time WRC Champion for Lancia in 1988 and 1989) and Sandro Munari, who captured Lancia’s WRC title in 1977 behind the wheel of a Stratos. Two additional, yet-unverified signatures remain, hinting further at the car’s motorsport connection.

With its known history, original drivetrain, documented restoration, and period motorsport signatures, this Stratos stands among the finest road-going examples available in the United States. It’s a turn-key collector-grade car with one of the most iconic silhouettes and stories in rally history.

This is a rare opportunity to own a turn-key collector-grade Stratos with one of the most iconic silhouettes and stories in rally history. Available for inspection/ viewing at our Tacoma facility.
